Age of spiritual machines. Ten to fifteen billion years ago, the universe was born.
You, you, you, you, you, you,
you, you, you, you, you
You haven't seen the world outside
For days you sleep you hope you wait
Imagination disappears and all
The dreams you have you save
Confrontation like a mirror they try
To take your mind away
Hey, hey
I don't know but i believe in
Yesterday and what it means to bleed
And know that you're okay
Are you waiting?
No matter what you say
No matter what you do
No matter what
I'm always right there behind you
No matter what you say
No matter what you do
No matter what
I'm always right there behind you
You, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you
Bombarded by the atmosphere
You breathe you choke you breathe again
Conversation disappears you realize
They're not your friends
The panic of the future rears
You dig you jerk you find another way
Hey, hey
I don't know but i believe in
Yesterday and what it means to bleed
And know that you're okay
Are you waiting?
No matter what you say
No matter what you do
No matter what
I'm always right there behind you
No matter what you say
No matter what you do
No matter what
I'm always right there behind you
You opened up my veins
And now I don't feel the same
No, no, no
You opened up my brain
And I won't be replaced
No, no, no
No matter what you say
No matter what you do
No matter what
I'm always right there behind you
No matter what you say
No matter what you do
No matter what
I'm always right there behind you
No matter what you say
No matter what you do
No matter what
I'm always right there behind you
No matter what you say
No matter what you do
No matter what
I'm always right there behind you
The year is 2029, the machines will convince us that they are conscious, that they have their own agenda, worthy of our respect. They'll embody human qualities. They'll claim to be human - and we'll believe them.
Well it's good to know that
you'll be okay
I've been waiting for this
And I'll be there to sit while you pray
No one's blaming me
I'm not supposed to wait
When they open up your heart
Away
I have been good
I understood
And like a machine they'll fix you
From the start
I'm in repair
The life that we share
I know that I'll be lost but we're always in repair
Lock the door, lock the door, lock the door, lock the door, lock
the door, lock the door
And it's good to know that you'll drive away
From this car crash nightmare
And I'll be there to help you again
There's no danger we're just
Killing time again
Until they order up new parts
Away
I have been good
I understood
And like a machine they'll fix you
From the start
I'm in repair
The life that we share
I know that I'll be lost but we're always in repair
Take this time to figure it out
The wires, the fuse
The things that you doubt
The wheels, the air
The metal that melts
Something, something, something
Away
I have been good
I understood
And like a machine they'll fix you
From the start
I'm in repair
The life that we share
I know that I'll be lost but we're always in repair
Away
I have been good
I understood
And like a machine they'll fix you
From the start
I'm in repair
The life that we share
I know that I'll be lost but we're always in repair
Lock the door, lock the door, lock the door, lock the door,
lock the door, lock the door, lock the door, lock the door
How many times have you been
Pushed around
Is anybody there
Does anybody care
How many times have your friends
Let you down
Is anybody there
Did anybody stare
Oh
How many times have your friends
Let you down
Just open up your heart
Just open up your mind
How many times has your faith slipped away
Well is anybody safe
Does anybody pray
oh life is waiting for you
It's all messed up but we're alive
oh life is waiting for you
It's all messed up but we'll survive
Do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do,
do, do, do, do, do, do
And how many days have you just slept away?
IS everybody high
Is everyone afraid
How many times have you wished you
Were strong
Have they ever seen your heart
Have they ever seen your pain
oh life is waiting for you
It's all messed up but we're alive
oh life is waiting for you
It's all messed up but we'll survive
She gets high
She gets lost
She gets drowned by the cost
twice a day
every week
all her life
She gets high
She gets lost
She gets drowned by the cost
twice a day
every week
all her life
Life is waiting for you
It's all messed up but we're alive
oh life is waiting for you
It's all messed up but we'll survive
oh life is waiting for you
It's all messed up but we're alive
oh life is waiting for you oh
It's all messed up but we're alive
It's all messed up but we'll survive
It's all messed up but we're alive
It's all messed up but we'll
Oh we'll
Survive
You feel the love
You feel the past
it's all the things you thought you had
Oh, well I woke up in hell today
I woke up depressed and drained
But that's okay 'cause
I promised not to hurt you again
Well apparently I'm to blame
But apparently I've been framed
By a memory that won't help
Me when it's happening
Out of the mind
Out of soul
Out of line
Out of control
Standing in the middle of yesterday
Where it all went wrong
And we made mistakes
I'm sorry for the things I forgot to say
But it won't be long
Until it will be okay
Kay
Oh, well I promised you I would I change
But I'm an asshole and I'm ashamed
I'm upset 'cause I betrayed everything
That you gave
Will you ever let me explain
Can I beg you to let me stay
Don't quit me
'Cause I'll never let this happen
Out of the mind
Out of soul
Out of line
Out of control
Standing in the middle of yesterday
Where it all went wrong
And we made mistakes
I'm sorry for the things I forgot to say
But it won't be long
Until it will be okay
You feel the love
You feel the past
It's all the things you thought you had
You feel the love
You feel the past
It's all the things you thought you had
It's all the things you thought you had
Standing in the middle of yesterday
When it all went wrong
And we made mistakes
I'm sorry for the things I forgot to say
But it won't be long
And it will be okay
Standing in the middle of yesterday
When it all went wrong
And we made mistakes
I'm sorry for the things I forgot to say
But it won't be long
And it will be okay
Oh, we'll make it up to you
make it up to you
make it up to you
Right now
make it up to you
we'll make it up to you
we'll make it up to you
Right now
Your life has been so hard
It's been dried up angels
That can't keep guard and
I'm trying to reach your hand
But I'm on fire I never meant to
Fade away, stay with me
Oh just stop pretending when they say you're nothing
Are you sad
Are you holding yourself
Are you locked in your room
You shouldn't be
Are you sad
Are you holding yourself
Are you locked in your room
You shouldn't be
I'm drowning inside your head
Help me to answer
Help understand
Why it's been so long since we talked
Like friends
Oh please forgive me
I'm just a man whose made mistakes
Wait, made
Oh just stop pretending when they say your nothing
Are you sad
Are you holding yourself
Are you locked in your room
You shouldn't be
Are you sad
Are you holding yourself
Are you locked in your room
You shouldn't be
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh,
oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh,
oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh,
oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Are you sad
Are you holding yourself
Are you locked in your room
You shouldn't be
Are you sad
Are you holding yourself
Are you locked in your room
You shouldn't be
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
You shouldn't be
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
You shouldn't be
Are you sad
Are you holding yourself
oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
You shouldn't be
Are you sad
Are you holding yourself
oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
You shouldn't be
Are you sad
Are you holding yourself
oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
You shouldn't be
Are you sad
Are you holding yourself
oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
2029 - there's a growing discussion about the legal rights of computers and what constitutes being human.
I gave up on you
And your exercise
And the world that I knew
Then
I fell back on you
Because I need more time
And I need an excuse
I'm a thief a liar
An angel caught on the fire
A king a drug
The push that comes to shove
I'm a freak a star
I am everything you are
I'm your Jesus I'm your pride
Made to heal
ohhhhhhhhh
Made to heal
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
We're made to heal
ohhhhhhhhh
Made to heal
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I depend on you
For the wings of life
And the air that you move
I defended you
For this one last time
And the nerves you abuse
We're made to heal
I'm a thief a liar
An angel caught on the fire
A king a drug
The push that comes to shove
I'm a freak a star
I am everything you are
I'm your Jesus I'm your pride
Made to heal
ohhhhhhhhh
Made to heal
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
We're made to heal
ohhhhhhhhh
Made to heal
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
You opened my way
I'm a lonely man
Your old enough to say
I'm a thief a liar
An angel caught on the fire
A king a drug
The push that comes to shove
I'm a freak a star
I am everything you are
I'm your Jesus
Jesus
Made to heal
ohhhhhhhhh
Made to heal
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
We're made to heal
ohhhhhhhhh
Made to heal
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Made to heal
ohhhhhhhhh
Made to heal
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
We're made to heal
ohhhhhhhhh
Made to heal
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Made to heal
ohhhhhhhhhhhhh
In 1949, George Orwell portrays a chilling world, in which computers are used by large beauracicies, to monitor and enslave the population in his book 1984. The year is 1976, Kriswall Computer Products, introduces the Kriswall reading machine, the first print-to-speach reading machine for the blind. 1997, Deep Blue beats Garry Kasperof, the world chess champion, in a regulation tournament. (During this, a young girl continually repeats "Big green monkey, everyone's a junkie".)
I'm not waiting for the answers
On a Sunday afternoon
I'm just too drunk to remember
Why I always slip through
The drugs and fake ambition
I got the feeling now
Have been helping me to hide
But it's the endless television
I got the feeling now
That has kept me inside
Where does it stop where does it end
Where do we go
Why am I always complaining
I can be good I can be bad
I can be loved
Everything's gone black
You're looking for that sun
You're looking for that light
Lonely
You're not the only one to feel that way
And black
You're looking for that sun
You're looking for that light
Lonely
You're not the only one to feel that way
Big green monkey
Everyone's a junkie
I'm not asking for forgiveness
For the things that I don't know
I'm really not that different
You just made me think so
Where does it stop where does it end
Where do we go
Why am I always complaining
I can be good I can be bad
I can be loved
Everything's gone black
You're looking for that sun
You're looking for that light
Lonely
You're not the only one to feel that way
And black
You're looking for that sun
You're looking for that light
Lonely
You're not the only one to feel that way
Big green monkey
Everyone's a junkie
Big green monkey
Everyone's a junkie
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Big green monkey
Everyone's a junkie
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Your faith
You squeal
Big green monkey
Everyone's a junkie
(Your faith
You squeal)
Oh, oh, oh, oh
You grow
You quake
Your the big green monkey
Everyone's a junkie
And black
You're looking for that sun
You're looking for that light
You're not the only one to feel that way
And black
You're looking for that sun
You're looking for that light
Lonely
You're not the only one to feel that way
I'll remember this someday
And black
You're looking for that sun
You're looking for that light
Lonely
You're not the only one to feel that way
And black
You're looking for that sun
You're looking for that light
Lonely
You're not the only one to feel that way
And
Big green monkey
Everyone's a junkie
Take death for example. A great deal of our effort goes into avoiding it. We make extradionary efforts to delay it, and often consider it's intrusion a tragic event. Yet we find it hard to live without it. Death gives meaning to our lives. It gives importance and value to time. Time would become meaningless, if there were too much of it. If Death were indefitably put off, the human psycie would end up, well, like the gambler in a Twilight Zone episode.
All my friends alone on a hill
They're just looking down with violent
Minds out on loan
They're just not equipped
Insistence
We hope for the best
We're not making sense
In silence wait for the day
When you're better than
In this silence
I'm not buying
You're not making
I'm not
I guess we better hold on again
This time
We won't understand again
I'm not waiting for some sense
This time
We won't understand again
I'm not wanting for
For, for, for
Still they sit alone on a hill
Their mechanical thoughts
Have left them out on their own
They're not buying this
In this silence
I'm not buying
You're not making
Your not
Guess we better hold on again
This time
We won't understand again
I'm not waiting for the man
This time
We won't understand again
I'm not waiting for the sense
This time
We won't understand again
I'm not waiting for the sense
This time
We won't understand again
I'm not waiting for
No, no, no, no
We won't understand again
I'm not waiting for
No, no, no, no, no
We won't understand again
I'm not waiting for
So you made up your mind
You're tired of trying
Time to be scared
And oh, you wanted to fly
But you can't close your eyes
Time to beware
But if you believe in the world I'm calling
If you believe in the world I saw
If you believe in the world I'm calling
You'd be strong
Hey
So you wasted your time
You willed it good-bye
Time to be scared
And oh, you thought you could buy
Your last piece of mind
Time to beware
If you believe in the world I'm calling
If you believe in the world I saw
If you believe in the world I'm calling
You'd be strong
If you believe in the world I'm calling
If you believe in the world I saw
If you believe in the world I'm calling
You'd be strong
Oh, oh, oh, oh yeah
Aiiiiiiii
And if you believe in the world I'm calling
If you belong in the world I know
If you believe in the world I'm calling
You'd be strong
If you believe in the world I'm calling
If you belong in the world I know
If you believe in the world I'm calling
World I'm calling
Oh oh
If you believe in the world I'm calling
If you belong in the world I know
If you believe in the world I'm calling
You'd be strong
And if you believe in the world I'm calling
If you belong in the world I saw
If you believe in the world I'm calling
You'd be strong
And if you believe in the world I'm calling
if you believe in the world I'm calling
She builds her own satellite
From an old rusted chair
She leaves this old world behind
And the things that she cares
Maybe she's gone
But it won't be for long
What do I know?
Maybe she's found
What we all dream about
What do I know?
Oh
She's beautiful and wonderful
I can't compare
Wonddddddd
It's just not that fair
She builds a strong alibi
From the future that's here
She needs to know I'm alive
But I'm flesh and I tear
Maybe she's wrong
But I won't mind my own
What do I know?
A bess and let go
With a touch of her soul
What do I know?
Oh
She's beautiful and wonderful
And I can't compare
Wondddddd
It's not that fair
Wondddddd
I can't compare
Wondddddd
It's just not fair
Wondddddd
Do da do
Wondddddd
Oh and
Wondddddd
It's just not fair
(hidden at the end of track
15, found at time 16:40, this is preformed in dialogue. The
background dictator is R.K., as if he's the one saying who talks
when.)
R.K - Anyway, you do look amazing.
Background - Molly
Molly - You say that everytime we meet.
Background - Ray
R.K. - I mean you look 20 again. More beautiful then at
the start of the book.
Background - Molly
Molly - I knew that's how you'd want me.
Background - Ray
R.K. - OK, you were an attractive young woman when I first met
you. And you still present yourself as a beautiful young woman,
at least when I'm around you.
Background - Molly
Molly - Thanks
Background - Ray
R.K. - Are you saying that your a machine now?
Background - Molly
Molly - A machine? That's not really for me to say; it's like
asking me if I'm braint, or inspiring.
Background - Ray
R.K. - I guess the word machine doesn't mean as much in 2099
doesn't have the same condictations as it does here, in 1999.
Background - Molly
Molly - It's hard for me to recall now.
Scilence
Background - Molly
Molly - I'm really just dabbling, but creating music is a great
way for me to stay close with Jeremy and Emily.
Background - Ray
R.K. - Creating music sounds like a good thing to do with your
kids, even if they are almost 90 years old. So, can I hear it?
Molly - Well, I'm afraid you wouldn't understand it.
R.K. - So, it requires inhancement to understand?
Background - Molly
Molly - Yes, most art does. For starters, the symphonies and
frequences that a mosh can't hear and has much to fast a tempo.
And it uses musical structures that a mosh could never follow.
R.K. - Can't you create art for non-augmented humans? I mean,
there's still a lot of depth possible. Consider Beathoven, he
wrote almost two centuries ago, and we still find his music
excilerating.
Background - Molly
Molly - Yes, there is a genre of music. All the arts, actually,
were we create music and art that a mosh is capable of
understanding.
Background - Ray
R.K. - Well, then you play mosh music for moshes?
Background - Molly
Molly - Hmm, now that's an interesting idea. I suppose we could
try that, although moshes are not that easy to find anymore. It's
not that neccessary though. We can certaintly understand what a
mosh is capable of understanding. The point though, is to use the
mosh limitations as an added constraint.
R.K. - sort of like composing new music for old intruments?
Background - Molly
Molly - Yeah. New music, for old minds.
Scilence
Background - Ray
R.K. - Maybe we should kiss goodbye.
Background - Molly
Molly - Just a kiss?
Background - Ray
R.K. - We'll leave it at that for this book. I'll reconsider a
different ending for the movie.
Background - Molly
Molly - Here is my kiss. I remember. I'm ready to do anything, or
be anything, you want, or need.
R.K. - I'll keep that in mind.
Background - Molly
Molly - That's where you'll find me.
Background - Ray
R.K. - Too bad I have to wait a century to meet you.
Background - Molly
Molly - Or to be me.
Background - Ray
R.K. - Yes, that too. Actually Molly, there are a few other
questions that have accured to me. What were those limitations
that you refered too? What did you say you were anxious about?
What are you afraid of? Do you feel pain? What about babies, and
children? Molly?
